Parent Letter – Students with Fever Protocol

Sick-Flu – Parent Letter 2019

November 27, 2019

Dear PS 101 Families:

In an effort to keep our students safe and healthy always, I have attached a guide from the NYC Department of Health to help maintain healthy living and protection from the common cold, illnesses and the flu.

Please take the time to speak with your child about washing their hands regularly and using hand sanitizer if and when necessary. We understand working parents have responsibilities to their employer, salary concerns and may not have alternate care for a sick child, but students who are sick are coming to school and are infecting others. Sending children back to school too early from an illness causes further sickness to spread through our school very quickly.

If your child was sent home with fever or experiences a fever under your care, vomiting, etc. they should be symptom free for 24 hours before they return to school. Our Custodial staff has been working very hard to disinfect every classroom daily, as well as supplying soap and paper towels in all restrooms.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation and support in maintaining a healthy and safe learning environment for all.  If you should have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact our Parent Coordinator, Ms. Margaret Lloyd at 347-563-4680.
