Weekly COVID Testing

Greetings PS 101 Families-

As you know, we have mandatory weekly testing at PS101 when the building is open.

In general, when your child is tested, you will receive an email notifying you test results are available. You can get this email as early as the next day, or it could take up to 4 days.

My child was tested as part of the NYC Public School random surveillance COVID-19 testing program, what should I expect now?

  • Most test results will be available within 48-72 hours after a test.
  • Test results will ONLY be made available to patients or their parent/guardian.
  • Depending on the lab that performed your test, you will receive either a phone call, text or email.
  • Check to see what lab performed your test on this spreadsheet.

48-72 hours have passed since my test. How will I learn my test result?

If you haven’t heard anything after 48 to 72 hours, you can contact the NYC Public School COVID-19 Testing Result Hotline at 646-614-3028. When you call, please have the following information available: 

  • Your student’s name and date of birth 
  • The date and school where the testing occurred 
  • The name of the lab that performed the test (check the flier your child was sent home with, ask your school, or check the spreadsheet above) 

In addition, you can contact the lab directly. If you were tested by:

BioReference Laboratories

  • All patients that provided contact info to the school to share with the testing lab will receive an email with their result information 
  • Staff ONLY can also access their result, when it becomes available, through the BioReference portal after the staff member creates a confidential personal profile accessible here: bioreference.com/patient-portal(Open external link)
  • If a patient does not receive results notification within 72 hours, please email patientportal@bioreference.com(Open external link)
  • Parents or guardians of students tested can contact BioReference directly at 1-888-279-0967, and should mention they are calling in reference to NYC schools testing program 
    • When contacting the lab, please have the following information available:
      • Patient Name, Patient Date of Birth, Date testing occurred

Fulgent Genetics

  • All patients that provided contact info to the testing lab will receive an email or text directing them how to access their results from Healthvana, a healthcare communications service 
  • If a patient does not receive results within 72 hours, please email backtoschool@fulgentgenetics.com(Open external link) or call 626-350-0537 between hours of 9:30AM – 8PM 
    • When contacting the lab, please have the following information available:
      • Patient Name, Patient Date of Birth, Date and location where testing occurred

SOMOS Community Care

  • All patients that provided contact info to the testing lab will receive an email with their result information from BioReference Laboratories (the lab processing the tests on behalf of SOMOS) AND a phone call from SOMOS Community Care
  • If a patient is not contacted within 72 hours, please visit somosny.com(Open external link) anytime or call 833-SOMOSNY (766-6769) between hours of 8AM – 8PM Monday – Friday
    • When contacting the lab, please have the following information available:
      • Patient Name, Patient Date of Birth, Date testing occurred
