Absences & Lateness

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Regarding attendance, please be advised that when your child is signed out of school, they are marked absent for the portion of the day they are not present. Attendance is based on being present inside the school. Attendance records are legal documents and time in school must be accounted for properly. So please understand that if you are signing your child out of school for a medical reason or any other purpose, they are marked absent for the portion of the day they are not present inside the school. The same holds true for lateness. School starts at 8:10 am. While we give a 2-3 minute leeway for students to come into the building, if they are late, they are marked late, regardless of reason. Again, attendance and being marked present is about being present inside PS 101.

Thank you.
