Learn about the fundamentals of the IEP process, including evaluations and
eligibility, the roles and responsibilities of school staff and families, the

Agency 101: Connecting Individuals with Disabilities to Adult Services
2/16/23, Thursday, 5:30pm-7:00pm:

This training will review New York State’s adult service agencies for people
with disabilities, the services they provide, and their eligibility processes.
Learn about how to connect students with disabilities to essential
post-school options and supports, the benefits of adult agency services, and
how to involve your student and IEP team in accessing services.

● Family Engagement in the FBA / BIP Process
11/9/22, Wednesday, 2:00pm-3:30pm:
Participants will learn:
○ The definitions and purpose of both a Functional Behavior Assessment
(FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP)
○ How the FBA and BIP should begin and the process
○ Who is on the committee that creates each process and the timeline
○ The role of parents, families, and caregivers as part of the BIP teams

● Special Education Mediation for Families
11/16/22, Wednesday, 10:00am-12:00pm:
In this training, participants will learn about the Individuals with Disabilities
Education Act (IDEA) and review the options for parents to resolve disputes
related to special education. We will focus on how to use Special Education
Mediation as a process to resolve complaints regarding the education of a
student with a disability.
