Safety Drills

Please be advised PS 101 conducts:

  • 8 evacuation drills per school year (previously known as Fire Drills)
  • 4 Lock Down Drills (where students learn how to hide and remain safe in case of an intruder)
    Please be advised we will have one Soft LockDown Drill in early March and one in early May

Internet Acceptable Use and Safety Policy (IAUSP)

The NYC Department of Education (“Department”) provides access to the Department’s Internet Systems for its employees, agents, students, and volunteers, collectively referred to as “users” for educational and business purposes, in conformance with applicable law.  This Internet Acceptable Use and Safety Policy (“policy”) governs all electronic activity of users using and accessing the Department’s Internet systems, including Department e-mail and Department-provided access to the Internet, and applies to the use of the Department Internet Systems both on and off Department property.  Student use of the Department’s Internet Systems is governed by this policy, Department regulations, policies and guidelines, the Citywide Standards of Conduct and Uniform Disciplinary Measures (the “Discipline Code”) and applicable law. Employee use is governed by this policy, By using the Department’s Internet Systems, a user agrees to follow this policy and all applicable Department regulations, policies and guidelines.  All users must report any misuse of the network or Internet or receipt of any communication that violates this policy to a teacher, supervisor or other appropriate Department personnel. Cell Phone Usage Policy in PS 101

At this time, we will be continuing our policy that has been in place for many years.  PS 101 students may not use cell phones in school. For safety reasons, I believe students should have cell phones on their person when walking to and from school. However the cell phone must be turned off and placed in their school bag which which will be in the classroom closet during the day.

Student Privacy Annual Notices

The DOE takes the confidentiality of information about students very seriously. There are several federal and state laws, such as the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and New York State Education Law 2-d, and local regulations, such as Chancellor’s Regulation A-820, that protect students’ “personally identifiable information” (PII). These laws also place responsibilities on the DOE and outside parties that are given access to students’ PII, including the requirement for the DOE and schools to provide families with the following annual notices:  Please review the above notices to learn more about federal and state laws and DOE policies that protect information about students and grant parents and students age 18 and over certain rights concerning student education records.
