Celebrating the 100th Day of School!

Dear PS 101 Families:

Today, Friday, February 9th, marks our 100th Day of School! We have celebrated this milestone in the school year with our students reflecting on the successes/challenges thus far and looking forward to the achievements to come. Our teaching staff have included purposeful fun and engaging learning opportunities across the content areas with their class today! Thank you, 100 times, to our amazing PS 101 families!

Monday, February 12th kicks off Respect for All week and is our 101st Day of School! What better day to celebrate our tremendous school spirit? Be sure to have your child wear school attire to show their PS 101 school spirit!!

Respect For All Week

Dear PS 101 Families:

PS 101 and the NYC Department of Education are committed to maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment that is free from harassment, intimidation and/or bullying and from discrimination based on actual or perceived race, color, citizenship/immigration status, religion, creed, national origin, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, or weight. Here you may find a joint letter to parents and RFA week video from the New York City Department of Education.

This year’s Respect for All Week is Monday, February 12, 2024 to Friday, February 16, 2024. At PS 101, Our teachers will include learning activities to infuse Respect for All initiatives with lessons planned for this special week.

Scheduled events and activities to celebrate Respect and Kindness:

  • The Great Kindness Challenge – PS 101 is participating in the Great Kindness Challenge during Respect for All Week. Copies of the Challenge will be sent to each classroom. They offer many suggestions and ideas for acts of kindness. You can view these checklists by clicking on the link in the RFA Virtual Classroom.
  • VIDEO and DISPLAY Choice Contest: Classes will be participating in a video and/or display contest with the theme of Respect this week. Voting will occur and winning classes will receive a prize!
  • Respect and Kindness Morning Announcements – Little Lighthouse Team members will be sharing special morning announcements for each day of the week.
  • “Respect Is Our Superpower” School Display on the 1st floor. 
  • Respect for All week takes place in February, which is also Black History Month. Please see WordPress post here for home resources.

    • Tuesday, February 13 – Wear TIE-DYE, FLOWER POWER, and PEACE SIGNS for PEACE Day.

Research-based studies show how students with School Spirit perform better academically, are more engaged in social and civic matters, and are happier in general than those without school pride and interest.
