Afterschool Programs at PS 101

Dear PS 101 Parents,

PS 101 has several After-School options you can choose from. Some are free, some are paid for, some are a few days a week, some are 5 days a week. Please see below for information.

After-School options:

  • For all Grades: BCA’s DYCD COMPASS Afterschool Program at PS 101 (see information below to register)
  • For Grades 2, 3, 4 & 5 :PS101 will have a separate After-School Program starting late September for grades 2, 3, 4, & 5 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from approx 2:30pm-4:30pm (the time listed here may change). More Information forthcoming.
  • For Grades 4 & 5: PS101 will have a brand new (and limited space) band After-School program (Violin and Brass Instruments for Grades 4 & 5). More Information forthcoming.
  • For all Grades: The Angel Advantage Center is also an After-School Program that is available 5 days a week. Please contact 718-644-0563 (*this is a paid for program). This program is held inside PS101.
  • For all Grades: Elite After School is also an After-School Program that is available 5 days a week.
    Please contact Mr. Lam at 718-996-6888 (*this is a paid for program). This program is housed at a separate location.

📢 BCA Afterschool Program at PS 101

We are excited to share that PS101 has partnered with the BCA (Brooklyn Chinese Association) for BCA’s DYCD COMPASS Afterschool Program at PS 101. Enrollment applications for K–5 students starts today through the Discover DYCD website: https://discoverdycd.dycdconnect.nyc/home.

Applications must be submitted by September 15, 2025.
A lottery will be conducted after the deadline (space is limited to only 20 seats per grade).
Accepted families will be notified directly by BCA.
*Please note the BCA After-School program is not run buy PS 101 and will not have PS101 teachers working it.

📝 How to Apply to the BCA Program:

  1. Click the link or scan the QR Code (below): https://discoverdycd.dycdconnect.nyc/home
  2. Select “Youth and Afterschool Program.”
  3. Search for P.S. 101 The Verrazano.
  4. Tap “Add to List.”
  5. Log in (or sign up to create a DYCD account).
  6. Go to your Dashboard and create a profile for your child.
    • If you have 2 children, you must create a separate profile for each child.
  7. Begin the afterschool application once profiles are complete.
  8. ✅ Don’t forget to submit your application!

📌 Program Reminders

  • Mandatory Parent Orientation will be held before the program begins.
  • Students must have up-to-date immunizations and medical forms.
  • Daily attendance is required: 2:15–6:00 PM, Monday–Friday
    ***if you can’t do all days during this time do not apply!***
  • Dismissal is between 5:30–6:00 PM (early pick-up not allowed).
