Open School Week: October 14th – 17th

Dear PS 101 Parents/Guardians:

We are very excited for PS 101’s Open School Week.

Open School Week is a chance for you to visit your child’s classroom, quietly sit in the back of the classroom and observe a lesson. We have specific designated times for you to visit from Tuesday, October 14th through Friday, October 17th. Open School Week is an opportunity to visit PS 101 while instruction is taking place.

In order for you to participate, please note the following rules:

  • There is a specific scheduled time for your visit by grade. There will be no exceptions or request changes to the assigned day of the week for your child’s grade.
  • You may not take pictures or video. Even though you may want a picture of your child, there are other children in the class who may not have permission to be photographed.
  • To enter PS 101, please ensure you have valid ID to show our NYPD School Safety Agent for admittance.
  • Please do not interrupt or disturb the teaching and learning process. Students and teachers will be working in their classrooms as they normally do.
  • Please do not bring younger siblings.
  • This is not a time to meet with your child’s teacher. You are there as a visitor to watch a lesson. Parent-teacher conferences are on Thursday, November 6th.
  • We will have our Scholastic Book Fair and shop open for you to purchase books for your at-home child’s library.

PS 101 Grade Tags

Dear PS 101 Families,

To support a smooth and safe arrival each morning, we will be implementing a colored tag system for all students. Each grade will be assigned a specific color tag that will be attached to your child’s bookbag. The tag will make things easier for our staff to help guide students to their designated grade-level line-up areas and to watch for students in the incorrect arrival location.

Important Reminders for Families:

  • Please ensure your child’s tag remains on their bookbag at all times.
  • Do not remove, replace, or decorate the tag, as it is an important safety and organizational tool.
  • If a tag becomes damaged or lost, please notify your child’s teacher so we can provide a replacement.

We appreciate your cooperation in helping us create a safe, efficient, and positive start to each school day.

Sincerely,

Gregg Korrol

Principal
