REMINDER – Remote Kindergarten Families – Materials Pick-Up Thursday, June 24

Dear REMOTE Kindergarten Families:

Please be advised of our final pick-up of your child’s academic materials for the 2020-2021 school year. This pick-up will include your child’s Stepping-Up certificate, a special end of year gift and student work portfolios (if applicable).

On Thursday, June 24th, please arrange to report to the PS 101 schoolyard between 9am-10am to pick-up your child’s packet.

As a reminder, it is essential for you to follow health and safety restrictions on school grounds. Teachers will have prepared labeled baggies for your child. We have set-up a specific time slot for learning material(s) pick-up in our schoolyard with the following safety guidelines:

*You must enter through the 24th Avenue gated entrance.
*No persons will be permitted in the schoolyard without facemasks.
*We ask for ONE member of each family to pick-up the packets. 
*It is necessary for all visitors to follow social distancing requirements with 6 feet apart when coming to and from the PS 101 schoolyard.
*We will have staff members set up with tables in the schoolyard for a smooth distribution of materials.

We ask for your cooperation in advance to assist us and following instructions.

KINDERGARTEN APPLICATION PROCESS FOR 2020-21

Dear Parents/Guardians:

We have just received pertinent information regarding KINDERGARTEN enrollment procedures from the NYC Department of Education. The KINDERGARTEN Application Process for 2020-21 Elementary schools will be as follows:

Beginning December 11th – January 21st families can apply to Kindergarten using one of the three options listed below:

 

  • Over the phone by calling (718) 935-2009
  • In Person at a Family Welcome Center

 

  • Family Welcome Center (District 20 & 21)     Brooklyn, NY 11209
  •      415 89th Street

Key Dates for Admissions

Early April Families receive offer letters.
April-May Families with offer letters contact schools to make an appointment to pre-register. Please see Chancellor’s Regulation A-101 for a list of accepted documents for proof of age and address.
Mid-May PS 101 will hold a Welcome Meeting for incoming families.
May-October Schools manage waitlists in MySchools.

 

PS 101 is NOT responsible for selecting students or printing mailing offers to families, but will conduct pre-registration as we have in the past and manage waitlists after initial offers go out. If you have any questions about applying to Kindergarten, call 718-935-2009.

ELIGIBILITY:

To be eligible for admission to Kindergarten in September 2020, students must turn 5 by December 31, 2020 (Born in 2015) and be residents of New York City at the time of pre-registration.

We are pleased to invite you to our kindergarten “Stepping Up” ceremony on Thursday, June 20th. Our little ones will be taking their giant leap to first grade with songs and celebrations to commemorate the fine job they have done in Kindergarten. Doors will open at 8:45 am, enabling families to take their seats. The ceremony will begin at 9:00 am sharp.  Please make child-care accommodations for any younger siblings, as space is very limited.

Students will perform and sing some favorite songs and special surprises for you, along with a special photo montage of beautiful memories captured throughout the school year. Teachers will be hosting class party celebrations at the conclusion of the certificates.  Ceremonies will be held in homerooms this year.  Due to space limitations and considerations, only 2 tickets will be given on behalf of each student to take part and enjoy the “Stepping Up”.  We ask for your cooperation in advance.

We look forward to seeing you and your family on this special day, as we celebrate the accomplishments of our kindergarteners moving up to first grade.

You are cordially invited to our annual Early Childhood Winter Wonderland on Monday, December 17th, 2018. This year’s performance will showcase our Kindergarten classes singing festive songs to ring in the New Year.

Doors will open for seating at 8:45 am.  The performance will begin at 9:00 A.M. in our school auditorium. Please be on time to join in the fun!

  • Child has to accompany the parent
  • Child’s birth certificate or Passport or record of baptism
  • Two (2) proofs of address/residency:  such as utility bill (gas/electric/water), lease agreement,
  • Cable bill, NYS Driver’s License, documentation on letterhead from federal, state or local
  • Government agency, including the IRS, the City Housing Authority, Human Resources
  • Administration, ACS, property tax bill, IDNYC card, Income Tax form, official payroll from Employer
  • Immunization record
  • Copy of your child’s IEP (Individual Education Plan) if your child has one.
