Today, Wednesday, November 19th, schools across New York City, including PS 101 participated in our first Sustainability Climate Action Day of the year!
This citywide initiative encourages students to learn about and take action toward protecting our planet. Our focus for this first Climate Action Day was WASTE and understanding how our everyday choices impact the environment and what we can do to reduce waste in our school and community.
Throughout the day, students engaged in lessons and activities centered on waste conservation, including:
Learning how to reduce, reuse, and recycle materials responsibly
Exploring what happens to our waste once it leaves our school
Brainstorming classroom and home habits that support a cleaner, greener planet
Together, we’re working to build awareness and develop sustainable habits that will benefit our environment today and for years to come.
Thank you for supporting our efforts at home by encouraging conversations with your child about how small actions, like reusing containers, sorting recyclables, and minimizing food waste, will make a big difference.
Let’s continue to make PS 101 a model for sustainability and care for our planet!
Our Science Lead Teachers, Ms. Warner and Mr. Lee, are excited to share this month’s Science Scoop! Dive in to discover fascinating highlights, including our Scientist of the Month, a fun Science Fact of the Month, and a snapshot of Learning Goals across all grade levels.
