Working Together to Stay Healthy
Dear PS 101 Families,
As we move into the winter and holiday season, we want to remind our school community of the importance of healthy practices to help reduce the spread of illness. We are currently seeing higher-than-usual rates of seasonal illnesses, including the flu and a stomach bug.
One of the most effective ways we can keep our school community healthy is by keeping children home when they are not feeling well. We appreciate your partnership in protecting the health and well-being of all students and staff. Please review the following reminders:
- Speak with your children about good hygiene practices, including frequent handwashing and coughing or sneezing into their elbow or shirt.
- If your child has a fever, they should remain home and may return to school only after being fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication such as Tylenol.
- If your child appears unwell or you are unsure whether they are healthy enough to attend school, we strongly encourage you to keep your child home. Staying home when sick helps prevent the spread of illness and supports a healthier school environment.

As we approach the holiday season, please be reminded that there will be no school for Winter Recess from Wednesday, December 24th through Friday, January 2nd. We eagerly await the return of our students on Monday, January 5th.

The Next Candy Cane Sale is on December 19!
Greetings PS 101 Families:
Our annual Candy Cane Sale will take place Friday, December 19th! During all lunch periods, students will be able to purchase candy grams:
- 2 mini candy canes for $1.00 each.
- 1 large candy cane for $1.00.
All proceeds from the sale will go towards St. Jude’s Children’s Research.

Winter Wonderland Show Starts Today!
Dear Early Childhood Families:
We are excited to announce that our annual Early Childhood Winter Wonderland will take place from December 15th through December 18th. This year’s showcase will feature festive, wintry songs guaranteed to bring holiday cheer and help us ring in the new year together.
Doors will open for seating at 8:30 am, and the performance will begin promptly at 9:00 am in our school auditorium. Due to space limitations, each child may have up to two guests.
Please remember that all visitors must follow the NYCDOE Visitor Policy: A valid form of identification is required for entry, and no exceptions can be made. Please be prepared to show ID upon arrival.
Winter Wonderland Performance Schedule:
- Monday, December 15 – Pre-Kindergarten Classes
- Tuesday, December 16 – Kindergarten Classes + K17
- Wednesday, December 17 – Grade One Classes + 123
- Thursday, December 18 – Grade Two Classes + 237 and our PS 101 Band will greet you with their first performance of the school year!
A recording of each performance will be made available for families. Students should report to school at their regular arrival time.
We look forward to celebrating the joy of the season with you. Our students have been working hard, and we know you will be proud of the magical performance they have prepared.
