Today, Wednesday, May 20th, schools across New York City, including PS 101,will participate in our final Sustainability Climate Action Day of the year!
This citywide initiative encourages students to learn about and take action toward protecting our planet. Our focus for this Climate Action Day is WATER, understanding why water is essential, how we use it, and what we can do to conserve and protect this vital natural resource.
Throughout the day, students engaged in lessons and activities centered on water conservation, including:
Learning about the water cycle and where our water comes from
Exploring how water is cleaned, distributed, and used in our daily lives
Identifying ways to reduce water waste at school and at home
Brainstorming habits that support clean waterways and healthy aquatic ecosystems
Together, we’re helping students understand the importance of water and how mindful choices can protect this precious resource for future generations.
Thank you for supporting our efforts at home by encouraging conversations with your child about small actions, like turning off faucets tightly, taking shorter showers, and preventing pollution, that help safeguard our water supply.
Let’s continue to make PS 101 a model for sustainability and care for our planet!
As a reminder, all New York City public schools will be closed on Monday, May 25th in observance of Memorial Day.
On this day, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who have served, and continue to serve in the United States Armed Forces. We are grateful for their sacrifice and dedication in protecting our freedoms.
School will resume on Tuesday, May 26th, following our regular schedule.
