A Letter from Principal Korrol: Welcome to the 2026-27 School Year!

Dear PS 101 Families:

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year at PS 101! It is with great excitement that we welcome both new and returning families to another year of learning, growth, and opportunity. At PS 101, we are proud to provide a nurturing school community where every child is encouraged to explore, discover, achieve, and belong.

At PS 101, we believe learning extends far beyond the classroom walls. Guided by our vision of Bridging Education + the World, we provide meaningful learning experiences that inspire curiosity, foster leadership, and prepare students for success in school and beyond.

Our school day begins with breakfast at 7:40 am, followed by instruction promptly at 8:00 am. Dismissal is at 2:20 pm. We appreciate your support in ensuring your child arrives at school on time each day, ready to learn.

Students benefit from engaging instruction aligned to NYC Reads and NYC Solves, supported by HMH Into Reading and Savvas enVision Mathematics. Beyond the classroom, students enjoy enriching experiences through STEM, LEGO Robotics, Scientific Inquiry, Visual Arts, Graphic Design, Dance, Music, Library, Physical Education, and daily Move to Improve activities that encourage creativity, wellness, and exploration.

At PS 101, we believe in educating the whole child. Through Leader in Me, Civics for All, Sustainability Education, Financial Literacy, and our daily WIN (What I Need) instructional block, students develop leadership, responsibility, problem-solving skills, and receive personalized support that helps every learner grow with confidence.

The safety and well-being of our students remain our highest priority. We appreciate your partnership in helping us maintain a safe and secure learning environment by ensuring students arrive no earlier than 7:40 am, reviewing personal safety reminders at home, and completing all beginning-of-the-year forms promptly.

Student Grade-Level Colored Tags

Dear PS 101 Families:

As we prepare to welcome our students for the 2026–2027 school year, all students will receive a grade-level colored bookbag tag to attach to their bookbag.

These colored tags will provide a quick and visible way for staff to identify each student’s grade level and assist students with their appropriate morning arrival and line-up locations.

Bookbag Tag Distribution:

  • Families participating in our PTA School Supply Drop-Off on Tuesday, September 8 or Wednesday, September 9 will receive their child’s grade-level bookbag tag from our PTA at that time.
  • Students who do not participate in the advance supply drop-off will receive their tag on the first day of school, Thursday, September 10.

Please be sure to securely attach the tag to your child’s bookbag and keep it in place throughout the school year.

This simple color-coded system will help support an organized and smooth morning arrival for our students and staff.

Reminder: Final Report Cards & Summer Information

Greetings PS 101 Families:

As another school year comes to a close, we want to thank you for all that you have done to make this year so meaningful for our students. Your hard work, care, and dedication continue to make a difference each and every day. Wishing you a restful, fun, and well-deserved summer break filled with time to relax and recharge. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in September with renewed energy for another wonderful year at PS 101!

Please see below for important report card and summer information:

SUMMER GOOGLE CLASSROOMS:
We have created dedicated Summer Google Classrooms to give students access to their summer work packets. Access codes have been posted by your child’s current teacher in their existing Google Classroom stream, and you will also find the code included in the ELA comment section of your child’s report card.

Please note that the Summer Google Classrooms are view-only. The sole purpose is to provide easy access to student summer assignments and materials.

To join your child’s Summer Google Classroom, please follow the steps below:
1. Go to Google Classroom
2. Go to the top right corner and find the (+) sign.
3. Click the (+) sign and enter the Google Classroom Code found on your child’s report card.
4. Join the Summer Google Classroom and follow the instructions for Summer Work.

2026-2027 Class Code Assignment:
Please find your child’s 2026-2027 class assignment code in the ELA comment section of the report card.
REPORT CARDS:
Report Cards will be accessible on NYC School Accounts (NYCSA) for families via: www.schoolsaccount.nyc.

Report cards will be available on student accounts on Friday, June 26th. (Please note, the DOE portal may post grades later than anticipated due to high online traffic.)

All students present will be receiving a hard copy of their report card on Friday, June 26th.

1. Click on the blue icon box “Sign In”.
2. Enter your username and password credentials that you signed up with for NYCSA access.
3. Click on MyStudent – GREEN BOX.

6. Current Report Card will be visible for you to click and access. Past Report Cards are also available for you to access.

*You can also access a translated version of your child’s report card by clicking SETTINGS (top right corner gear icon) > Click Language Preference from the left side list > Select your language and click SAVE.

Reminder: Medication Pick-Up on June 26th

Dear PS 101 Parents/Guardians:

Individual letters were sent home for students with epi-pen/asthma pumps or medication pick-up on the last day of school.

If you have given any medication to the school for health and safety reasons this school year, please note it will be returned on Friday, June 26th.

  • On Friday, June 26th, teachers will return EPI-PEN (#1) medication that was housed in the classroom (directly at dismissal).
  • If medication was submitted to the nurse during the school year (ASTHMA PUMPS, EPI-PENS (#2), or OTHER MEDICATIONS), parents/guardians will need to visit the nursing station before or after dismissal (no later than 3pm) to retrieve asthma inhalers, other medication or epi-pens in which the nurse also has stored in her office.
  • All medication will be returned to a parent/guardian or family representative.
  • If you are unable to pick-up your child’s medication on the last day of school, please contact our Parent Coordinator, Ms. Bing Xing Lin at 347-563-4680 or via email at BLin9@schools.nyc.gov to arrange for a different date.

June 23 – Election Day

Dear PS 101 Families:

Our school will be used as a polling site on Tuesday, June 23rd for the city elections and students will be eating breakfast and lunch in the classroom on this date.

  • Tuesday, June 23rd is a regular school day, and all students are expected to be in school.
  • Doors will open for breakfast at 7:40am and all classes will begin at 8am.
  • All students will be dismissed at their regular dismissal time. Please make arrangements for your child’s pick-up.

NYC Public Schools Closed on June 19th for Juneteenth

Dear PS 101 Families,

Juneteenth is a time for reflection, education, and honoring the enduring strength and resilience of Black Americans. Observed annually on June 19th, this important holiday marks the end of slavery in the United States and serves as a reminder of both the struggles and the contributions of Black individuals throughout our nation’s history.

As noted in the NYC public schools’ calendar, all schools will be closed on Friday, June 19th in observance of Juneteenth. School will resume on Monday, June 22nd, following our regular schedule.

Below are a few resources to support conversations at home and deepen understanding of Juneteenth’s meaning:

As we observe this day, may it inspire reflection, conversation, and a continued commitment to justice and equality. Wishing all of our families a thoughtful and peaceful Juneteenth.

Parent-Teacher Conferences on November 6th

Greetings PS 101 Families:

We’d like to remind you that Thursday, November 6th is our fall Parent-Teacher Conferences and will be a half-day of school with student dismissal at 11:20 am. Students will eat lunch in school before leaving for the day. Please make necessary arrangements for your child ‘s early dismissal at 11:20 am.

You will have the opportunity to participate in a virtual or telephone Parent-Teacher Conference with your child’s teacher on Thursday, November 6th during the following times:

  • Afternoon Session: 12:20 pm. – 2:20 pm.
  • Evening Session: 4:30 pm. – 7:00 pm.

Please note:

  • If you have not yet scheduled an appointment, please contact your child’s teacher through Google Classroom or the Remind app to arrange a meeting.
  • If you are unable to connect with your child’s teacher(s) on this date, please know that teachers are available to schedule alternate appointments during Monday’s Parent Engagement time (after 2:20 pm), unless otherwise arranged.
  • The first marking period report cards will be available in your child’s NYC Schools Account beginning Monday, December 1st.
