Dear PS 101 Families,
The Science Scoop is back with our October edition! Our monthly newsletter will keep our families in the science loop of what we are learning in our science labs! In October, our young scientists have been busy exploring, observing, predicting, discovering, investigating and hypothesizing:
Pre-K: Learning about waste and the importance of recycling.
Kindergarten: Discovering different animal habitats.
1st Grade: Investigating how shadows are made.
2nd Grade: Exploring how landforms change.
3rd Grade: Investigating what causes objects to move and comparing different animal features.
4th Grade: Exploring what causes a blackout and investigating the properties of sound.
5th Grade: Discovering the importance of scientific models and exploring solubility.
Scientist of the Month: Katherine Johnson
This month, we celebrate Katherine Johnson and her contributions to mathematics and space exploration! Our Scientist of the Month board in school includes fun facts about her inspiring achievements.
Science Fact of the Month:
Did you know that scientists believe it rains diamonds on Neptune?
We encourage you to ask your young scientist what they’ve been learning in science class this month. Be sure to check out our October Science Scoop newsletter attached and find out the scoop every month with our PS 101 scientists! Keep asking questions, keep exploring, and keep discovering! There’s always something exciting happening in science at PS 101!
Sincerely,
Mr. Lee and Ms. Warner
