Dear 101 Families,
As you may have heard by now, New York City public schools will be closed for the remainder of the school year. At this time we don’t have any further information about what will happen for closing activities such as graduation for fifth graders. But once we have more information, I will share it with you.
Personally, I believe the right decision was made to protect everybody. And like anything else in life, when we are faced with a challenge, we will figure it out and make it the best we can. At this point, the most important thing you can do is ensure your child is continuing their remote learning every single day so that when they enter school in September they have the knowledge ready for the next grade. More than ever parents, we need your help to ensure our students are working and learning.
As for our fifth graders, we do have confirmation that the yearbook will still be processed and shipped. Once we are able, we will let you know how you can get your yearbook, but that may not be until September. We will also work to try and figure out how to create a graduation for our students, remembering that every fifth grader, eighth grader and senior in high school have the same situation.
For now remember to practice social distancing, to stay inside, and to also find a way to make this time a special memory for you and your family to do things together.
