Summer Rising 2026

Dear PS101 Families,

NYCPS is partnering with the Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) to offer Summer Rising in 2026. Summer Rising connects elementary and middle school students to fun, hands-on experiences that strengthen their academic, social, and emotional skills. Summer Rising is free, and open to any NYC student currently in kindergarten through grade 8. More information regarding programming dates and hours will be shared at schools.nyc.gov/SummerRising when the application opens on March 3.

Summer Rising includes NYCPS-led academics and enrichment activities held by DYCD Community Based Organizations (CBOs). Free breakfast and lunch are provided. For more information, please visit schools.nyc.gov/SummerRising .

Summer Rising MySchools Application

The application is open from March 3–March 27, 2026. To apply, log in to your MySchools.nyc(Open external link) account if you already have one, or create one using your email address, your child’s nine-digit student ID number, and their MySchools account creation code, which you can get from your child’s school. If you have used MySchools to apply for summer or school year programs, your child may already be added to your account. Note that MySchools is a separate account from your NYCSA.

There are no limits to how many programs families can add to their application. Adding more programs increases your chances of being placed in a program of your choice.

This process is not first-come, first-served; all applications received by the deadline will be treated the same based on admissions priorities. You can make changes to your application any time within the application period. For further questions, visit schools.nyc.gov/SummerRising https://supporthub.schools.nyc/(Open external link) or contact your school.

Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!

Dear PS 101 Families,

I would like to extend my heart-felt gratitude to all the staff that braved this morning’s commute to come to PS101. While we had a large amount of staff absences, many found a way to get here.

A tremendous thank you to our teachers, paras, support staff, kitchen workers and safety agent for being here today.

I would also like to say an extra special thank you to our custodial team who literally slept in the school on Sunday night to ensure they worked all night Sunday and all day Monday to clear our sidewalks and schoolyard.

And, undoubtedly a huge shout-out to our amazing Assistant Principals, Mrs. Kane, Mrs, Percaccio and Mr.Damiano for coordinating and programming the school day in the midst of a lot of ongoing changes.

Possible Remote Instruction Day Monday

Dear PS101 families,

Due to the impending storm, we are preparing for a remote instruction day for Monday. In the event, we do have a remote instruction day, we will let you know.

If we do have a remote instruction day, please make sure your child logs on their Google classroom by 8 AM and follows the schedule below.

During the Remote school day (learning from home), please follow see below which tells you what your child’s virtual school day schedule is.

  • The schedule is blended to ensure students have part of their day with live instruction and part of their day with off-line activities so that students are not sitting in front of their computer screen all day.
  • What is Asynchronous instruction? This is when students have off-line activities, such as writing, drawing, work on a printout, reading, independent work, at-home treasure hunt, etc.
  • What is Synchronous instruction? This is when students are on-line live with their teacher. Ensure your child is online with their camera on when live instruction is occurring as per the schedule above.
  • Students follow their normal schedule of the day (whatever day of the week happens to be a Remote Instruction Day) which means students will attend their cluster period as per the normally scheduled time.
  • Cluster and AIS Teachers will follow their normal schedule and teach for the first 25 min of the period live/synchronous and then give asynchronous activities for the remainder of the period.
  • Related Service Providers (Speech, OT, PT, etc)  follow their usual servicing schedule.

Please see below video for steps on how to log onto Google Classroom:

  1. Log into Teachhub using your child’s DOE credentials.
  2. Click the Google Classroom app under “PS101 Applications”.
  3. You will then be redirected to your child’s class on Google Classroom.
