Kindergarten Parents: Opportunity to Attend Virtual Save for College Program Session for Schools with Kindergarten Classes

Dear PS 101 Families:

As part of his Juneteenth Economic Justice Plan, Mayor de Blasio announced the citywide expansion of the Save for College Program to all kindergarten students, beginning this September. In partnership with the DOE’s nonprofit partner, NYC Kids RISE, the program will provide incoming kindergarten students with a NYC Scholarship Account, including the first $100 deposit in each account, opportunities to earn additional rewards and access to Community Scholarships, as well as financial education and college and career readiness-support activities.

The DOE will conduct an optional virtual Save for College Program session for principals with kindergarten classes from 10:00–10:30 a.m. on September 2. This session offers a high-level overview of the program’s purpose and components, and key steps and team roles for supporting family participation, as well as additional resources. A recording of the session will be available on the Save for College Program InfoHub page after the event.
