Reminder: Please dress in clothes that can get dirty and bring water in case it gets warm, since the event will take place outdoors. White shirts and a tie dye kit will be provided for FREE to each child that registered. You may also bring one small personal item to dye. The item should be white AND made of cotton for best results. If you have enough dye left over in your kit, you will be able to dye that item as well.

Parent Workshop: “How to Use Positive Reinforcement with your Child” on May 26

Dear PS 101 Families:

We are pleased to announce an upcoming in-person parenting workshop in English and Chinese on the topic of “How to use Positive Reinforcement with your child / Emotional and Behavioral Regulation.”

The workshop will be held on Friday, 5/26/2023 at 9:00 am in the PS101 cafeteria. Our hosts for this workshop will be our PS101 Guidance Counselor, Ms. Liebert and our PS101 Parent Coordinator, Ms. Bing Xing Lin.

During the workshop, parents will learn about the importance of positive reinforcement and how it can be used to promote positive behavior in their children. They will also learn strategies for emotional and behavioral regulation, including ways to help their child manage their emotions and respond to challenging situations in a healthy and positive way.

We are excited to announce an in-person parenting workshop in English and Chinese on the topic of “Habits and Routines – How to help your child with Routine.”

The workshop will take place on Friday, 5/19/2023 at 9:00 am in the cafeteria, and will be hosted by our PS 101 Guidance Counselor, Ms. Kipriadis, and our PS 101 Parent Coordinator, Ms. Bing Xing Lin.

During the workshop, parents will learn about the benefits of establishing healthy habits and routines for their children, as well as practical strategies for implementing them at home.

Parenting Workshops on May 3rd and May 10th

Greetings PS 101 Families:

The Chinese American Sunshine House is happy to invite PS 101 parents to join them for a two-part parenting workshop series that aims to help parents improve their communication with their children and teach them self-discipline.

The first workshop will take place on May 3, 2023 from 10-11am, and will focus on how to improve parent-children communication. Our speaker Min Li, from the Chinese American Sunshine House, will share practical tips and strategies for effective communication that can help parents build stronger relationships with their children and foster a more open and honest dialogue.

The second workshop will take place on May 10, 2023 from 10-11am, and will cover teaching and rewarding kids for self-discipline. Min Li will provide insights on how to teach children the importance of self-discipline and how to reward them when they exhibit it. This workshop is especially relevant for parents who want to instill good habits in their children and help them develop a strong sense of responsibility.

Both workshops will be held via Zoom and available in both English and Chinese. They will include interactive discussions and Q&A sessions. We encourage parents of all ages to join us for these informative and engaging workshops.

Building Your Child’s Home Library Family Workshop

Dear PS 101 Families:

You are cordially invited to join us for a Family Workshop on Building Your Child’s Home Library on Saturday, January 28th at 10:15 AM.  (Please view our flyer.)

Come have your family register for a FREE library card with our local librarian, Ms. O’Leary! Did you know this card doubles as a powerful culture pass to many of NYC’s best museums and sites?! Did you also know that your NYC students’ account has access to SORA – a FREE online library? Join us to learn about these resources to help you build up literacy at home! At the end of the event, every child will also be allowed to take home 10+ new or used books for FREE!

This workshop is free but space is limited to 25 families. (If it is popular, we will host a duplicate event in the future.) Parenting Skills Program

12/06/2022 – 01/24/2023, every Tuesday, 2PM – 3PM (EST)  via  Zoom

Parents will learn different parenting skills in this 8-session weekly program. All sessions are free to attend and open to the public. This program will be conducted in Chinese. Click here to fill out the registration form

English Classes

Starting 12/06/2022 – 02/14/2023, every Tuesday(no class on 12/13) , 4PM – 5PM (EST)  via  Zoom
