Parents as Partners Workshop: Meet and Greet Our New Parent Coordinator and Get to Know Our PTA

Dear PS 101 Families:

The home-school partnership includes getting our families involved and helping you understand what your child is expected to learn this school year. Please join me on February 9 for a “getting to know you” workshop to discuss your concerns and share in an opportunity to meet our PTA Executive Board to learn how we can best help you with building a partnership in education. 

Date: Thursday, February 9, 2023 at 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM

Location: At our school cafeteria

Learn about the fundamentals of the IEP process, including evaluations and
eligibility, the roles and responsibilities of school staff and families, the

Agency 101: Connecting Individuals with Disabilities to Adult Services
2/16/23, Thursday, 5:30pm-7:00pm:

This training will review New York State’s adult service agencies for people
with disabilities, the services they provide, and their eligibility processes.
Learn about how to connect students with disabilities to essential
post-school options and supports, the benefits of adult agency services, and
how to involve your student and IEP team in accessing services.


Save For College Parent Workshop for Kindergarten and Grade 1 Families on January 25

Dear PS 101 Kindergarten and Grade One Families:

Please see below registration link to join our information workshop on Wednesday January 25th, at 9:00 AM. You will learn more about the Save for College program. We will explain the process and the advantages to joining the program to save for your child’s future. All workshop participants must show valid ID and proof of COVID vaccination upon entry.

Your child has been automatically enrolled in the Save for College Program unless you choose not to participate. You do not have to do anything to enroll to receive a free NYC Scholarship Account. For more details, please visit;;

Building Block 1 – To Activate and View the NYC Scholarship Account:

1. Visit

2. Click Activate Account

3. After reading the Welcome statement, scroll down and click activate account

4. Another small box will appear and you can click Continue

5. You will then see a Registration box pop up

6. Enter your child’s Date of Birth, Zip Code, and OSIS Number (Student ID Number), then click submit.

7. Now you will enter your personal information and create a password

8. Once that’s complete, click on the introductory survey

9. Complete the introductory survey to earn the first $25 reward, which will be allocated to your child’s scholarship account within about a week.

After you finish activating the account, you can choose to open your own account as a next step (also known as Building Block 2) so that you can save alongside the scholarship account. If you have any questions or would like support opening your own college and career savings account:

Please join me for a parent workshop on Friday, January 20th at 9am to welcome guest speaker, Dr. Vincent Adamo, who is a part of the Wellness Professionals committed to changing the healthcare delivery system for the world. He will be visiting PS 101 to educate and support families on how to live healthier lives and build healthy families. He is committed to educating the community on boosting their immune system through the correction of your spine and nervous system. Join us for this parent workshop to learn more about improving their health.

Building Your Child’s Home Library Family Workshop

Dear PS 101 Families:

You are cordially invited to join us for a Family Workshop on Building Your Child’s Home Library on Saturday, January 28th at 10:15 AM.  (Please view our flyer.)

Come have your family register for a FREE library card with our local librarian, Ms. O’Leary! Did you know this card doubles as a powerful culture pass to many of NYC’s best museums and sites?! Did you also know that your NYC students’ account has access to SORA – a FREE online library? Join us to learn about these resources to help you build up literacy at home! At the end of the event, every child will also be allowed to take home 10+ new or used books for FREE!

This workshop is free but space is limited to 25 families. (If it is popular, we will host a duplicate event in the future.) Online Registration is REQUIRED and opens tomorrow, Saturday the 14th here: parent per family is required to attend with their child(ren). A light breakfast will be served.

NYC Schools Account Parent Workshop on Thursday, January 12

What is a NYC Schools Account? 

NYC Schools Account (NYCSA) is a DOE application that lets you access important information about your child on any device. The website is accessible in nine languages. 

Why is the NYC Schools Account important? 

The NYC Schools Account allows you to view your child’s grades, report cards, attendance history, test scores, transportation information, IEP information, submit COVID consent forms, track your child’s progress to graduation, and more to come! Your NYC Schools Account will be the only way to vote in the upcoming 2023 Education Council Elections (CEC).

Kindergarten Application Parent Workshop on Jan 9th from 3 PM – 5 PM

Greetings PS 101 Parents/Guardians:

Our Parent Coordinator Bing Xing Lin will be hosting a parent workshop at PS 101 to provide an in-depth overview of the NYC DOE Kindergarten application process. Ms. Bing will be joined by Ms. Lau (STEM/Tech Teacher) and Ms. Wu (DL Coordinator) to help parents understand how the Kindergarten application process works and what you need to do to apply for Kindergarten at PS 101. The workshop will be held in person on Monday, January 9, 2023 from 3 PM – 5 PM.

Please note, this workshop is only applicable to families who are zoned for PS 101. You can check if your address is zoned for PS 101 by using the NYC DOE “Find A School” website:

Following NYC DOE visitor policy, only individuals who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 will be allowed to attend the workshop. FREE Parenting Workshops and ESL Classes Offered by Chinese American Sunshine House

Dear PS 101 Families:

Please see the following FREE parenting workshops and ESL classes provided by one of our community organizations, the Chinese American Sunshine House. 

Parenting Skills Program

12/06/2022 – 01/24/2023, every Tuesday, 2PM – 3PM (EST)  via  Zoom

Parents will learn different parenting skills in this 8-session weekly program. All sessions are free to attend and open to the public. This program will be conducted in Chinese. Click here to fill out the registration form

English Classes

Starting 12/06/2022 – 02/14/2023, every Tuesday(no class on 12/13) , 4PM – 5PM (EST)  via  Zoom
